1. Basics Plus @ Betton Farm

Basics Plus @ Betton Farm: They have a restaurant, tearoom and animals for children to look at. They also have play equipment and small rides for children. Basics Plus (at Betton Farm) provides real work opportunities to support people with a learning disability and those who are on the autism spectrum. Individuals have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and be proud of their efforts and achievements. Crafts made in the purpose-built workshops are sold in the shop. People with different abilities might also gain work experience caring for the animals on the farm and working in the tearoom and restaurant kitchens.

2. Creative Days by Creative Day Care Services

Creative Days by Creative Day Care Services: This service, based at The Street, offers daily experiences for adults with learning and other disabilities, and also those on the autism spectrum. They focus on creativity through performing arts, craft, nature, friendships, independence and social integration. Activities include dance, fitness, songs, sign language, arts and crafts, games, outings and much more. Members can freely move between projects, activities and following their own interests on the days or half-days they choose to come. They can come alone or with a personal assistant.

3. Scarborough Mencap

Scarborough Mencap: This is an independent charity, affiliated with the Royal Mencap Society. Their provisions include a day service for adults. Activities at their Brookleigh centre on Valley Road include arts and crafts, fitness activities and food preparation. Service-users share meals together and take part in community-based activities and outings. The organisation also provides flexible support in people’s own homes or in the community to help them live more independently. In addition they provide an out-of-hours service for children and adults with additional needs.

4. Castle House Day Centre (North Yorkshire County Council)

Castle House: This daytime support service (08.30 to 16.00) provides support to people with complex care needs/ learning disabilities including those who are on the autism spectrum. North Yorkshire Education Services staff work with individuals to help them reach their goals in a person-centred way. This service is accredited by the National Autistic Society.
