1. National Autistic Society (NAS)

National Autistic Society (NAS): This organisation offers a wide range of online modules, courses, and some conferences. Training is available for everyone, including those on the autism spectrum, their families, carers, school staff and other professionals. Some training has a charge and some is free. Areas of training include money management, use of social stories, autism and eating challenges, finding employment, and understanding stress and anxiety in autism.

2. Autism Plus

Autism Plus: This organisation offers online and in-person training courses for individuals, organisations and professionals. They offer a consultancy service, too. Training for autistic people includes about wellbeing and employability

3. Scarborough TEC Distance Learning Autism Courses

Scarborough TEC Partnership:
The TEC Partnership offers two Level 2 distance learning courses about autism. The courses are free to most people, regardless of income, and can be done at home over a number of weeks. The courses cover much information about autism, including around communication, employment and person centred support. The TEC Partnership also offers a Level 3 ‘Understanding Autism’ course for a fee. See links below to find out more about the Level 2 courses.

4. University courses

University courses: Courses about autism are offered at some universities, e.g. Sheffield Hallam, Birmingham University and University College London (UCL). Some courses can be accessed on site and some via distance learning. The courses are offered at different levels, including at PGCE and at Masters Level. 5. Unlocking Autism

Unlocking Autism‘: NYES (formerly North Yorkshire Education Services) offer this free course for practitioners, parents and carers of children and young people with communication and interaction needs. Children do not need to have a diagnosis of autism in order for parents to attend. The online programme includes 5 sessions covering Autism, Behaviour, Communication, Sensory Differences and Resilience, providing practical tools and strategies to support children and young people.
