Avalon Group: This charity supports people, including those who are on the autism spectrum, with domiciliary care. Avalon provides person-centred care, support and companionship in people’s homes or in the community for anywhere between 1 and 24 hours a day. Avalon also run the Shared Lives service (see below).

2. Avalon Group, Shared Lives
Avalon Group,Shared Lives: This is an alternative to other supported living arrangements for people with additional needs, including those who are on the autism spectrum. Enthusiastic, trained and positive families share their homes and lives with individuals who have additional needs. This could be for a few days respite, a short break or a full-time living arrangement. Individuals are supported to be part of the wider community with their host families, enjoying activities and family time. They are also supported to follow their own interests and goals.

3. Happy Futures
Happy Futures: This organisation supports people, including those who are on the autism spectrum and those with complex care needs, to achieve their goals and aspirations. They support people in their own homes, providing domiciliary care, outreach, and supported living options. Activities include cooking and crafts, walking, bowling, going to the cinema and visiting attractions. Happy Futures was awarded Autism Accreditation by the National Autistic Society in 2020.

4. Moorview Care Ltd
Moorview Care Ltd: They support individuals, who have a learning disability and autism, within their own homes. The person-centred support they provide allows their people, spread over 17 locations in the North of England – including Scarborough, to live a full and varied life. Their support is based around the person’s dreams and aspirations and always with a focus on improving the person’s quality of life. Whether it’s support once a week or 24/7 care, each support plan is built and tailored around the individual person and their wants, needs and desires in order to help them to lead a gloriously ordinary life.

5. Supporting Choice
Supporting Choice: This domiciliary service offers supported living options for people in their own homes, for anything from 1 hour to 24 hour care. This includes for people who are on the autism spectrum and those who have complex care needs. Supporting Choice also offer a day service at their premises on Hoxton Road, Scarborough. As well as this they offer an employability program which includes Supported Internships for young adults to access successful workplace experiences.

6. Voyage Care
Voyage Care: They are a national organisation that offers support in Scarborough too. They build their support for people, including those who are on the autism spectrum, around the person’s needs, interests and preferences. They run a residential care home just outside Scarborough.

8. Wilf Ward Family Trust
Wilf Ward Family Trust: They offer supported living accommodation and residential care in Scarborough and across Yorkshire and the Humber. They also offer specialist holiday accommodation in Filey. Wilf Ward Family Trust supports people with varying needs, including those who are on the autism spectrum, both at home and out in the community. Person-centred support helps each customer to work towards their goals, wishes and aspirations.

9. North Yorkshire Centre for Independent Living (Nycil)
North Yorkshire Centre for Independent Living (Nycil): This non-profit organisation works to support and promote the independence of people who have disabilities. They will help and advise anyone who wishes to employ a personal assistant. This can include advertising, interviewing and drawing up a contract. Nycil also runs a payroll service to enable the employer to pay for the personal assistant.

10. Ryedale Special Families (RSF)
Ryedale Special Families (RSF): This independent charity serves the Ryedale area in North Yorkshire. They provide family information, advice and support as well as social groups and domiciliary care for children and young people (to age 25) with disabilities, additional needs and illness. RSF works to uphold and strengthen the equal rights of families and young people with disabilities and special needs. They are a registered provider of care with North Yorkshire Council and are registered to provide domiciliary care with the CQC.
